OBJECTIVE
Pleme wanted a place for Croatian people to connect with each other no matter where they were in the world. They tried Facebook and LinkedIn groups but found none of them worked. They needed their own engaging platform. Disciple enabled their community to grow.
STORY
Pleme had been using Facebook and LinkedIn groups for many years in an effort to create a bustling online community of Croatians around the world. However, they struggled to engage with people properly through groups on those platforms and that their content got lost in noisy news feeds. The groups gave them no sense of community and it was hard to attract new people to join a Facebook group that had little engagement so the groups did not grow.
Pleme set out to create an app themselves to solve these problems but found that it would have taken them over a year to complete. Once it was complete, it would then have required regular updates to keep the app functioning. They needed a white-label solution.
This is exactly what Disciple offered them and the Pleme community was up and running in no time.
By having their own dedicated space without all the noise and distractions of social media, Pleme has been able to connect and engage with members at a deeper level. Content is split into relevant groups on the app to focus the conversation, while push notifications let members know when new content is available.
Now that they have found a home for their community to thrive, Pleme are looking at how they can turn their platform into revenue. They are planning to introduce a subscription model and provide premium content – something that they had been unable to do on Facebook and LinkedIn. The premium content will encourage subscription sign-ups and so help the community to grow further.
The app has seen fantastic growth so far, with 1,500 members after only three weeks. Having spent years on traditional social media trying to grow the global Croatian community, Pleme have been able to do just that by giving it the home that it deserves on Disciple.
